The three-channel LV300H is a gig-ready head packed with features for live use. From a chiming bright clean sound to the vintage caress of the creamy overdrive, whether it is single coils or hum buckers, the VC30 delivers.
The VC’s clean channel is immediately impressive and lives up to its name remaining clean almost all the way to the maximum volume, when it begins to break up in the perfect pleasant way you only get from pushing an EL84 hard. Drive-wise the VC range has its roots in the bluesy side of things, but push the front end of the amp a little harder with a pedal and the gain really sings.
The LG20R takes its tonal cues from its bigger tube brothers. The clean channel chimes away nicely and takes on a pleasant bite at higher volumes. Switch to the drive channel, set the drive and the master controls as desired, and the LG range will yield a range of tones, from just breaking up to saturated sustain, with an increasing degree of crunch and raunch in between. On both channels the three band tone controls contribute a subtle degree of shaping rather than creating extreme sounds.
