With a look inspired by the Shure 5B microphone from the 1930s, the Sontronics Corona is a dynamic vocal microphone designed to deliver exceptional sound quality both live and in the studio. Its name, evoking the sun’s outermost ring, symbolizes its unique construction: the microphone’s body is concentrically suspended inside a circular outer ring, enhancing its visual appeal and performance.

The Corona is the result of feedback from users of the Sontronics Halo, a guitar-tracking mic that performers also used for vocals. Recognizing the need for a dedicated vocal mic with similar qualities, Sontronics founder Trevor Coley developed the Corona. The microphone features built-in pop filtering to handle plosives and a ported capsule that captures more low frequencies, delivering a richer, fuller sound.

The Corona boasts a stylish anodized body and grilles in a sleek “space grey” finish, matching the aesthetics of the Delta 2. It utilizes the same high-quality capsule as the award-nominated Solo handheld mic, with a supercardioid pattern for excellent side rejection and increased gain before feedback. This blend of modern functionality and retro design makes the Corona a standout choice for vocalists seeking a distinctive sound.
