The Genelec 8020D Studio Monitor Speaker in its special edition version presents an elegant raw aluminium finish, inspired by Genelec’s classic designs and crafted in collaboration with acclaimed industrial designer Harri Koskinen. The use of recycled aluminium not only ensures that each monitor is environmentally friendly, but also provides unique pattern aberrations exclusive to every unit.

Innovative Design and Technology

The 8020D features Genelec’s MDE (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure) technology, characterized by rounded edges and curved surfaces, which helps to minimize diffractions and ensure flat frequency response for exceptional sound stage imaging. The die-cast aluminium construction is lightweight and stiff, providing durability, superb EMC shielding, and excellent heat dissipation capabilities.

Advanced Protection and Enhanced Performance

Equipped with advanced protection circuitry, the 8020D prevents driver failures due to inadequate input signals, ensuring system reliability without compromising sound quality. The bi-amplified design, featuring individual amplifiers for the woofer and tweeter, enhances audio fidelity, allowing every sonic detail to be heard clearly.

Intelligent Features

The ISS (Intelligent Signal Sensing) technology automatically reduces power consumption by switching the monitor to a low-power sleep state when not in use, and instantly reactivates upon detecting a signal. Room response compensation controls enable customized settings for different room acoustics to achieve flat frequency response, optimizing in-room performance.

DCW Technology

The Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) technology refines sound dispersion, minimizing early reflections and ensuring consistent sound reproduction both on and off-axis. This results in a wide listening area and precise audio quality.

Versatile Mounting Options

The Genelec 8020D offers multiple mounting options with a 3/8’’ threaded hole for speaker stands and holes for Omnimount brackets, ensuring stable and flexible placement. The Iso-Pod stand provides stability and allows for a +/-15 degree tilt, reducing surface vibrations and enhancing sound quality.
